Student creativity shines in Dogwood Festival Art Display

ORLEANS — As the 55th annual Dogwood Festival continues to bring color and life to the town of Orleans, the talents of local youth are proudly on display at the Orleans Public Library. The 2025 Orleans Jr.-Sr. High School Student Art Display opened on April 23 and will continue through Saturday, April 26.

The exhibit features a wide array of artwork by junior high and high school students, with categories including sculpture, ceramics, digital and traditional drawing, painting, and photography. New to this year’s showcase is a selection of junior high art, giving younger students an opportunity to share their creative talents with the community.

The opening reception, held Wednesday and Thursday evenings, allowed attendees to cast votes for their favorite pieces and register for door prizes. While voting and prize registration have closed, the exhibit remains open for public viewing during regular library hours.

In addition to visual art, eighth-grade Language Arts students present small poetry books in the library’s lower level, offering another glimpse into the creativity of Orleans youth.

Light refreshments were served during the reception, and organizers have welcomed all community members, parents, relatives, and festival-goers to explore the display through Saturday. For those who missed the evening events, there is still time to support local students and enjoy their artistic achievements before the festival wraps up.
