Emergency rental assistance for Hoosiers

INDIANA – Are you a landlord with a tenant struggling to pay rent? IERA2 is available to help! IERA2 can provide a maximum of 18 months of rental assistance to Hoosier households that are behind in their rent. IERA2 helps by paying past-due rent and up to three months of future rent. IERA2 can even help with utilities.

There are three ways for tenants to apply:

  1. Tenants may call 2-1-1 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. 2-1-1 can assist tenants with creating a profile and completing the question-and-answer portion of the application. Households that apply through 2-1-1 will complete the document collection portion of the application on their own.
  2. Tenants may call their Local INCAA Network member. Network members can assist with creating a profile, completing the question-and-answer portion of the application, and the document collection form. Landlords, you can locate the INCAA provider serving your tenants by calling 2-1-1 or clicking this link.
  3. If you are a participating IERA2 landlord, you can start an application on behalf of your tenant. The tenant will then be notified to complete the remainder of the application.

IERA2 will issue an initial payment to each eligible household. This payment will consist of past-due rent and three months of future rent. Households needing additional assistance must enroll in Family Stability Counseling with the INCAA Network. No household may receive more than two IERA2 payments.

Households that have received 18 months of total assistance from IERA, IERA2, LCERA, Elkhart ERA, or South Bend ERA are not eligible for further assistance.
