Never Forget: Indiana Democrats honor International Holocaust Remembrance Day

INDIANAPOLIS — Saturday is International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2024, an annual day to honor the millions of victims who died due to the Nazi terror regime. It marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in 1945.

Almost 80 years later, we saw the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust when Hamas terrorists killed over 1,000 innocent Israelis in their homes and villages on October 7. Since the attack, antisemitic incidents have risen by almost 400%. It reminds us that we are still far away from erasing this hatred.

Mike Schmuhl

“We must never forget the horror and the pain of the Holocaust. In these times of rising antisemitic violence after the October 7 massacre, it is vitally important to continue to push back against Jewish hate here in Indiana and everywhere,” said Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmuhl. “Our message to Jewish Hoosiers is that you are not alone. Indiana is a stronger place due to the contributions of Jewish families, and antisemitism is unacceptable in Indiana. Indiana Democrats will continue fighting for a state where everyone can feel safe going to class or the grocery store, no matter their religion, creed, or background.”
