Constellation Stage & Screen Announces Dynamic Spring 2024 Educational Programming

BLOOMINGTON – After another successful fall session, Constellation Stage & Screen’s educational programming is back in full swing, January 2024 through May 2024, with after-school, evening, and weekend classes for PreK (ages 3-6), Littles (grades K-2), Kids (grades 3-6), Teens (grades 7-12), and Adults (ages 18+).

Constellation’s unique ability to provide educational opportunities in theater, musical theater, comedy, and film allows for a wide range of creative, hands-on, experiential arts enrichment programming.

Spring ‘24 youth programming highlights include a new age group with Creative Movement for PreK, new Acting for Littles classes, Acting for Kids: Scenes from the Movies, and our new SNL: School Night Laughs class, where kids will create and film their sketch comedy show. Adult highlights include Intro to Acting, Intro to Improv, and Movement for the Actor: Building Stage Presence. All educational programming will occur at Constellation Studios at 411 East 7th Street, in Bloomington, and prices range from $105 to $175.

Eric Shelley

Constellation’s Education Director, Eric Shelley, has seen first-hand the impact of his programming. “Not only am I witnessing meteoric personal growth in students as they build skills and gain confidence in their abilities, whether performance-based or technical-based. I also see interpersonal connections and friendships blossoming and a community being built. That’s what drives me to do this work.”

A key component to the success of Constellation’s educational programming, Shelley says, is having a lineup of the best-of-the-best teaching artists. Judy O., a Fall ‘23 improv student, said of instructor Taylor Zartman, “Taylor Z ran a series of well-considered, quite organized classes that got me–an introvert with no acting background–up on my feet volunteering, laughing and spinning tales with my clever classmates.”  Kenny H. adds, “Taylor is timely, fun, considerate, and overall this was a grand ol’ time!” Zartman returns as an instructor this January for three adult classes–Intro to Improv and two sessions of Improv: Beyond Beginner.

Constellation proudly offers full scholarships for all youth programs (for grades PreK-12)! IU Credit Union sponsors these scholarships and allows qualified students to attend a Constellation class at no cost. Scholarships are available for any student who qualifies for free/reduced lunch; more details on scholarship application and eligibility can be found here.

Registration is now open for all spring classes on Constellation Stage & Screen’s website. The first class begins on January 23, with our first enrollment deadline on January 15th. For programming questions, please get in touch with Eric Shelley at eric@seeconstellation.org.
