Rumpke Waste & Recycling collections will be delayed during Christmas and New Year’s Day

MEDORA – Rumpke Waste & Recycling collection will be delayed during Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Rumpke service will not occur on Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1, and collection will be delayed by one day each week. Rumpke will return to its regular collection schedule the week of January 8, 2024.

The local waste and recycling company expects a 25% increase in material placed at the curb because of holiday giving. Rumpke reminds customers that not everything belongs in the trash or the recycling.

“Items like rechargeable batteries, cooking oil, and fire embers can ignite in our trucks and at our facilities, putting our employees and the motoring public at risk, and shouldn’t be placed in trash or recycling,” said Todd Wilson, region safety manager, Rumpke. “Other holiday items, like Christmas lights and ribbons, can get caught in recycling sorting equipment and cause significant mechanical issues, so it is important to stick to the acceptable items list found on recycling containers and at Rumpke.com.”
