The Matthew 11:28 project wants every child to have a bed

BEDFORD– The Matthew 11:28 Project is a ministry through Mount Pleasant Christian Church that is providing beds to children in need. In the past 16 months, the ministry has provided hundreds of beds for families in Lawrence County. Building quality beds doesn’t come cheap, and our community once again stepped up to the plate. Several local business owners reached out to be sure the church had all the steel, wood, mattresses, and bedding they would need. The units are either single twin beds or bunk beds.

Project leader Josh Haltom

A child may be without a bed for many reasons, but according to Josh Haltom, who leads the project, “It’s never the child’s fault.” and added, “They should be able to get the rest they deserve.” He stressed that they had heard from the teachers of some of the children that they had been more attentive in class since receiving their new beds and that proper sleep was essential.

An example of the beds provided

Anyone can request a bed for a child – family member, teacher, social worker, etc. You will want to contact the child’s family if you do not live in the household. Applications can be found at mpccbedford.com/beds.
