Winter officially begins tonight

INDIANA – Winter officially begins at 10:27 p.m. EST. bringing the day with the least amount of daylight this year.

Temperatures today will climb to the low to mid-50s this afternoon. Clouds and mild temperatures will stick around on Friday. The highs jump into the mid to upper 50s Friday afternoon.

While a few light showers and sprinkles are possible in southern Indiana, most areas will remain dry during the daytime hours. Some scattered showers may push into areas north of I-64 Friday night. With the rain and clouds in the forecast, temperatures will drop into the 40s by Saturday morning.

Spotty showers will be possible on Saturday, with the majority of the highest rain chances. The weekend will not be a washout as plenty of dry times are likely during the day on Saturday and later on Sunday, Christmas Eve following a morning rain chance.

Christmas Eve with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s. A forecast high of 58° for Monday, Christmas will be 22° above the normal high and come with breezy southerly winds and rain. It does not appear we will have a white Christmas this year.
