The power of United Way is changing communities

LAWRENCE CO. – The power of the United Way is changing our communities. Your partnership makes life better for our friends and neighbors.

United Way of South Central Indiana and United Way of Monroe County recently joined forces.

Kim Burgess

“I’ve heard concerns about the future of United Way in Lawrence and Orange counties,” said Kim Burgess, Director of Rural Engagement. “I want to assure you that our blended team is committed to strengthening Bedford, Mitchell, Paoli, and the surrounding communities. I remain dedicated to the same programs I have been working on in Lawrence and Orange counties.”

Programs include United Way grants to teachers, Childhood Development STEM, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Preschool STEAM, and the Young Women United Mentoring program.

The United Way region is filled with opportunity, yet many struggle to make ends meet. As a long-time resident of Lawrence County, Bugess sees this every day.

“Did you know that 46% of local families are one unfortunate event away from a major crisis?” she added. “I hope you will join me as we work to meet critical needs today while preparing for a brighter future
