Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services awarded $3,000

LAWRENCE CO, – This past weekend, the Lawrence County Community Foundation gave its 8th surprise grant, $3,000, to the Lawrence County Cancer Patients Services (LCCPS).

Brenda McKain with Lawrence Cancer Patient Services stopped by the LCCF office and was surprised by LCCF CEO Hope Flores and CFP Finance and Grants Officer Lisa Starr with a $3,000 grant.

The LCCPS’s mission is to assist cancer patients who reside in Lawrence County, Indiana, when insurance or other funding sources are unavailable.

Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services is a nonprofit organization staffed entirely by volunteers.

On October 19, at the foundation’s 30th anniversary dinner, the LCCF announced its intention to award ten surprise grants totaling $30,000.

Each grant is $3,000; the first was awarded to the White River Humane Society on the evening of the dinner. Bertha’s Mission, Little Theater of Bedford, the Mitchell Community Public Library, the Mitchell Parks Department, Friends of Spring Mill, and now LCCPS have all been recipients of the surprise grants.

With eight grants presented, the LCCF has two remaining $3,000 grants to award in the coming days, providing $ 6,000 to other community organizations.

The grants amount to $30,000 in total, representative of the 30 years of service the LCCF has provided to the Lawrence County community.
