BORDEN – Multiple fire department crews spent hours battling a large brush fire in Borden on Sunday and Monday.

Tri-Township Fire & Rescue Chief Col. Amir Mousavi says the fire was reported at 2:40 p.m. in the area of Top Of The Rock Road and State Road 60.

Multiple crews from Clark County, Floyd County, and Washington County responded to battle the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene Sunday for more than six hours.
At 5:50 p.m. multiple crews were still battling the blaze on the hillside with heavy fire and smoke conditions.
At 9:20 p.m. crews were making defensive lines in order to stop the fire from growing.
At 10:16 p.m. some firefighters left the scene. Tri-Township Fire & Rescue crews left the scene at 10:55 p.m. and planned to return on Monday morning to assess the damage.

Mousavi says no injuries or structural damages have been reported.
No cause has been determined at this time.

Although the fire did grow overnight, the fire is nearly 100% contained on all fronts.
Additional defensive fire breaks have been cut surrounding the fire on Monday. Operations/command were being turned over to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
