Man arrested after police found a pipe bomb

COLUMBUS — Columbus police arrested a Kentucky man after allegedly locating a pipe bomb in his vehicle whilst in a residential neighborhood on Tuesday, November 14

Shortly before noon, Columbus Police Department officers went to the 700 block of 13th Street, in regard to a possible explosive device inside a vehicle.

Officers did find what looked like a pipe bomb inside the vehicle.

The department’s bomb squad was called, while officers blocked off the 1300 block of Sycamore and Pearl Street for public safety. A member of the CPD Bomb Squad later removed the pipe bomb from the vehicle and the explosive device was escorted by public safety personnel to an off-site location where it was safely detonated.

Police arrested Jorden Perry, 32, of Whitley City, Kentucky. Perry was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on a preliminary felony charge of possession of a destructive device The incident remains under investigation.
