BLOOMINGTON – A homeless man was found dead early Thursday morning outside the Monroe County Public Library on Kirkwood Avenue.
Bloomington Police Department officers responded to the library at 303 East Kirkwood Avenue just after midnight following a request for a welfare check on an unresponsive man.
Officers found a 39-year-old on the ground on the east side of the library and immediately began performing life-saving efforts including performing CPR until EMS arrived on the scene.
The male was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Ryan Pedigo, a friend told officers the two had laid down to sleep. He woke about an hour later and found his friend unresponsive.
The man’s name is being withheld until next-of-kin are notified.
