BEDFORD – Early this morning, around 7:30 a.m., runners registered for one of the Limestone Capital races gathered on J and 15th Street at the Milwaukee Depot. The sun was just peeking over the horizon as the racers warmed up and stretched.
Released at 8:05, 8:10, and 8:15 a.m. the racers braved a nice 45-degree autumn chill.
David, fifteen, loves to run and has been running on his own. The Limestone Capital Half-Marathon was his first-ever race. David ran the 13.1 mile course in 1.29.49, just under an hour and a half.
The entire Tirey family stayed and ran together during the race of their choice.
Mike Ohwow-Godsey ran in place of his wife Coey, who double-booked herself and couldn’t make it. Coey was at Girl Scout Leadership Camp for Troop #2269.
After the races, participants enjoyed ice-cold water and a healthy snack before awards were presented.
