Jorja Lamm is the 16-year-old daughter of LaToya and Cody Lamm, and Josie’s older sister. She is a part of the MHS track team and girls’ basketball, and she plans to pursue a 4-year education once she graduates high school.

Jorja Lamm said she felt “like a million dollars” after winning the contest, despite learning there is a good and a bad side to knowing how people perceive her. “I learned not everyone will be happy for me when I succeed.”

“My favorite part has been seeing all the little girls light up when they see me. They want to say ‘Hi’ and give me a hug.” Jorja explained.

Entering the pageant wasn’t Jorja’s idea in the beginning. “At first, it was because my mom wanted me to do it because I had never been in a pageant before. And then after the first practice, I was excited to do it. But nervous. In the end, I did it for my mom, and that made it all worth it.”

Josie Lamm, while the younger of the sisters, is a veteran of the Persimmon Festival Queen contest. “I wanted to do it again since I had fun and made really good memories doing it in Mini Miss.”

Josie’s favorite part of the pageant was “wearing a pretty dress” and being with her friends. She was very proud of herself for winning. “It feels really good,” she said, but like her sister, she realized not everyone likes others to succeed.

The girls’ mother, Toya Lamm said that “Winning together as sisters,” is the “best lifelong memory they will have.”
