LAWRENCE CO. – You can win $500 this month by auditioning to win the 2023 Persimmon Idol contest. Created to feature local singing talent, the competition features a youth and adult division – both of which will be awarding $500 to the winning Idol.
Do you have what it takes? Give it a shot and see, at worst, you get to practice your vocal skills, and at best you go home with $500 in your pocket!
In addition to performing on the Main Street Stage in Mitchell, the winner of each division will go home with:
- the Litefm Persimmon Idol trophy
- Persimmon Idol tee shirt
- $500 cash prize (adult division)
- $500 cash prize (youth division)

Auditions
Contestants will audition during the preliminary round and those selected to advance to the finals will perform on Mitchell’s Main Street Stage on Monday, September 14 at 7:30 pm.
To register, you can click HERE. Registry forms will also be available on-site, but participants are encouraged to register online to expedite the process.
The Preliminary Round is Thursday, September 14 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mitchell High School Auditorium.
During the preliminary, each contestant will perform their song in front of judges. Auditions have a closed-door policy, which means that no friends or family members will be allowed into the audition room.
The contestants chosen to perform in the finals on the Main Street Stage will be contacted by Wednesday, September 20.
If you can’t make the Preliminary Round, you have the option of uploading a video (YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc.) and sending the link to persimmonidol@wphz.com by September 14.
