Indiana State Police investigating the death of an inmate at Greene County Jail

BLOOMFIELD – The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post to investigate the death of an inmate.

Jack D. Farmer, 44, of Bloomington, was found unresponsive on July 23, at the Greene County Jail where he was incarcerated.

Jail staff with assistance from the Bloomfield Police Department attempted life-saving measures which included CPR.

EMS was contacted and Farmer was transported to Greene County General Hospital. He was then transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where he was pronounced dead the weekend of July 29-30.

Following the death of Farmer, the Indiana State Police has accepted the role of lead investigating agency per the request of Greene County Sheriff George Dallaire.

The incident remains under investigation.
