Police find dead animals in Bloomington apartment

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington Police officers and animal control removed numerous animals from Woodbridge Apartments on Wednesday after another resident spotted the door open and feared the apartment had been burglarized.

Officers found no evidence of a burglary but located a dog locked inside a crate that appeared malnourished and had no food or water.

Officers then found several cats with no food or water and a large amount of feces and urine on the floor.

They also found two dead geckos and a dead chinchilla in the apartment.

Animal control took custody of the dog and the cats.

Police contacted the resident. No arrests have been made at this time, but charges may still be filed.
