Waggoner named BNL’s female Athlete of the Year

BNL’s Annie Waggoner, a standout in softball and volleyball, was named female Athlete of the Year.

BEDFORD – Annie Waggoner, a two-sport standout as a senior, has been named Bedford North Lawrence’s female Athlete of the Year by the WBIW.com website.

Waggoner, an Indiana State recruit, made her biggest impact in softball. She was named First Team All-State in Class 4A and selected to the South All-Star squad. She was also named All-Hoosier Hills Conference while going 15-5 as a pitcher. She finished as the program leader in career wins (55) and strikeouts (569), and she also hit .371 with 5 home runs and 28 RBIs as the Stars finished 24-8.

In volleyball, Waggoner was the team statistical anchor with 152 assists, 41 kills and 143 digs.

Other notable athletes who enjoyed outstanding seasons included Mallory Pride (basketball and tennis), Chloe Spreen (basketball), Karsyn Norman (basketball), Chloe McFaddin (golf), Ava Ratliff (softball), Braxton McCauley (softball), Aliza Jewell (softball), Emma Gabhart (swimming) and Mary Batz (track).

Colton Staggs was named male Athlete of the Year. The list of the Top 10 stories for the 2022-23 school year will also be announced.
