Fight over broken bed lands woman in jail

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested on Thursday, March 9th after Lawrence County Central Dispatch received a call reporting a domestic altercation at 212 State Road 58 East.

The caller reported a Bedford Police officer was currently with the victim who was being treated at IU Bedford Hospital.

The accused had been transported to the Bedford Police Department for questioning.

A deputy arrived at the hospital and spoke to the female victim who was in distress and suffering from a bloody nose.

Alexzondrea Kowitzhad

The female told police that she and her fiancé, 21-year-old Alexzondrea Kowitzhad had gotten into a verbal altercation. The altercation escalated when Kowitzhad broke a part of their bed which belonged to the victim’s mother. She told her to apologize to her mother which she did.

Upon coming back downstairs to the bedroom, the female told Alexzondrea that she would be pawning her PlayStation to compensate her mother for the broken bed. The two continued to argue and Kowitzhad shoved the victim and then hit the victim in the face.

The victim told police she believed she had suffered a broken nose.

The victim signed a domestic battery affidavit and Kowitzhad was detained on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a minor.

The victim’s 5-year-old daughter was in the home when the incident occurred.
