Man arrested after punching and threatening his teenage girlfriend with a gun

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested early Sunday morning when Bedford Police officers were requested to 2031 I Street after a report of a battery.

The female caller reported that 23-year-old Logen Causey had threatened to kill her with a firearm and then left the home in a silver Chevrolet Cruze.

The officers responded to the home and found a 17-year-old  female standing on the front porch crying. She had a red mark on her left arm near her shoulder.

The teen told police that Causey was angry and started punching her. He then pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her. He kept punching her and said, “I’ll just pull the trigger”.

The teen thought Causey may have gone to his mother’s residence on 6th Street.

An officer remained with the teen while others went to the home on 6th Street and located the vehicle there.

They knocked on the door and requested to speak to Causey. He stepped outside and was detained.

Causey told police he got woken up by the teen after she went through his phone and was upset.

Causey said the teen accused him of “cheating and then threw a chair”.

Causey said, “I don’t want to say I did hit her, but I did hit”  then stopped mid-sentence and said, “it might have been the way I pushed her out of my way so I could  get out of the house so I could leave because I didn’t want to cause any issues.”

Causey denied having a gun and pointing it at the teen.

When asked if he threatened to kill her he replied, “me and her both said it to each other”.

He did admit to owning a .22 LR revolver and it was inside the home on the TV stand.

Causey told police that after the teen threw the chair “it just got heated in the moment” and he pushed her out of the way and onto the bed.

Officers again spoke to the teen, whose father had now arrived on the scene.  She told police Causey had sent text messages to another female and she asked him about it. She says Causey began yelling and screaming and said he was going to hit her and that is when he punched her in the arm and shoved her. He then punched her twice in the arm with his fist. He then told the teen to get out and she went outside and called her father. Causey told her if “she got her dad there that he would shoot him and anyone else who comes to the porch”. He finally let her back into the house where she saw the gun sitting on the bed. Causey then told her if she did not leave him alone “he was going to kill her”. The teen then went to call the police from another person’s room who lives in the same building. When she came back Causey was gone.

The teen and her father both agreed to sign a battery affidavit.

A search warrant was then granted by Judge Nathan Nikirk to search for the firearm.  Police found the gun that the teen has described and it was seized. The revolver was found on the TV  stand and was loaded with six rounds of .22 long rifle ammunition.

Causey is facing charges of domestic battery with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery.
