An officer responded to the scene to find both a male and female victim.

The male victim told police he was sleeping and around 2:30 a.m. woke to someone beating on the doors and windows. That person was Matthew Roll, the female victim’s ex-boyfriend.

The victims told police Roll climbed up on top of a trash can and gained entry to the home through a kitchen window.

The male victim and Roll verbally argued which turned physical. The male victim was slapped in the mouth, punched in the stomach, pushed, and spit on him.

The male victim was able to get Roll out of the home. The female victim then locked both Roll and the male victim out of the home.

The male victim was able to get into his vehicle where he called the female victim and instructed her to call the police.

Roll got into his own vehicle and left.

Initially, the female victim was hesitant to speak to the officer when asked if Roll was physical with her, but eventually, the female admitted that Roll slapped her and claimed that Roll sexually assaulted her.

Police later found there was an active protective order in place against Roll.

Police located Roll driving near the intersection of 6th and R street.

Roll denied there was a physical altercation but did admit he had entered the home through a window.

The female was transported to IU Health Hospital to be treated by a sexual assault nurse.

Roll was arrested on charges of rape, burglary, residential entry, invasion of privacy, battery, and criminal mischief.
