BEDFORD – Becky’s Place hosted their annual Shelterbration fundraiser event over the weekend, raising over $32,000 for the shelter.
The $32,000 raised is the tally from sponsorships, as well as table and ticket sales. The final total raised will be higher, as they are still calculating totals raised from donations, raffles and the event’s silent auction.
Items in the silent auction included hand-decorated furniture, jewelry, designer bags, concert tickets and experience packages like the Caesars Southern Indiana “Legendary Evening” Package, which included a one-night stay in the Caesars Southern Indiana hotel (Sunday- Thursday), two $15 food vouchers valid at The Piazza or Aroma Café and two $10 Casino Cash coupons and the Happy Travelers Trip, which included two seats at the Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville, IN to see Father of the Bride on Thursday, June 8, transportation to the event and a lunch buffet.
The event, which drew 350 attendees on Saturday, is the primary fundraiser for Becky’s Place, who service more than 80 women and children each year, helping them move into more sustainable housing. They help by providing them meals, shelter, case management, support services, counseling and more.
Emceed by Rick Ferguson, Shelterbration featured live music performed by My Yellow Rickshaw, success stories from former Becky’s Place residents and food provided by Carla’s Catering.
The event is also where the Becky’s Place Awards are given out. This year’s winners were Hunsaker Consulting and Spartan Mechanical.
