Bedford Park Outdoor Series Exploring Southern Indiana Caves

BEDFORD – This month’s Bedford Parks Outdoor Series program will feature southern Indiana’s cave.

The program will be presented at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, by Carroll Ritter.

Carroll Ritter

Ritter who is a well-known outdoor education specialist will share his amazing adventures in the Indiana caves he has explored.

Through his years of exploration, mapping, and photography, the audience will learn of different caves’ beauty and complexity.

Ritter will describe some of the more than 4,000 caves in the state, how they were formed, and where they are located. The fragile ecosystems, delicate formations, and cave life will be included in a beautiful PowerPoint presentation.

Ritter welcomes questions on caves and the regulations and safety recommendations related to exploring them. Southern Indiana is also fortunate to have many incredible commercial caves that are open to the public.
