BEDFORD – During the Bedford Redevelopment Commission meeting Tuesday afternoon, a change order was created due to stability concerns over an unknown concrete grout slab discovered during the construction process of the new police station.
In a special meeting held on December 5, the issue was discussed and a request for additional funds was made to remove the concrete slab. Commission member Ryan Griffith shared concern over the cost amount and recommended creating a schedule of values to determine the scope of the needed work.
The discussion from the December 5th meeting ended with a lack of a motion, moving the conversation to the next meeting.
Two options were presented to the commission to determine the best cause of action. Option A provided a lump sum of the material needed for the repairs, while Option B was based on time and material used.
The commission voted on Option B for time spent on the repairs and material used, not to exceed $40,856. The project will continue as planned, with an anticipated completion date set for Wednesday, July 19th, 2023.
