Daviess County Commissioners issued a burn ban

DAVIESS CO. – The Daviess County Commissioners have issued a burn ban for Daviess County.

Effective immediately, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Campfires and other recreational fires, unless enclosed in a fire ring with dimensions of 23 inches in diameter by 10 inches high or larger.
  • Open burning of any kind using conventional fuel such as wood, or other combustible matter, except for grills fueled by charcoal briquettes or propane. Charcoal from permitted grills shall not be removed from the grills until the charcoal has been thoroughly extinguished.
  • The burning of debris, such as timber or vegetation, including debris that results from building construction activities is prohibited.
  • And the use of burn barrels is prohibited from dusk to dawn at residential structures unless a wire mesh screen is placed on top of the barrel.

The ban is in effect for 7 days when the commissioners will re-evaluate the conditions and possibly renew the ban.

Burn bans are also in effect in Dubois, Jackson, Martin, Orange, and Washington Counties.
