BEDFORD – Saturday is 4-H Day at the Farmers’ Market.
4-H members will be visiting the Bedford Farmer’s Market this Saturday. Members will be happy to have an opportunity to educate people about 4-H.
National 4-H Week is October 2nd through the 8th.
For over 100 years, 4‑H has inspired families, shaped careers, and impacted communities.
4-H is open to youth in grades 3-12 (Mini 4-H is offered to grades K-2 in most counties) and has been offering learn-by-doing style programs for more than a century. The name of the organization represents the four Hs in the pledge: head, heart, hands, and health.
At the Farmer’s Market 4-H members will share their experiences and what 4‑H has to offer young people.
4‑H believes in the power of young people.
4‑H programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing. Kids build life skills by leading hands-on projects not only in livestock, but science, health, agriculture, and, civic engagement – helping them to grow confidence, independence, resilience, and compassion and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Adult mentors provide a positive environment where they learn by doing.
Kids can concentrate on one focus area or they can try a variety of programs throughout their 4‑H experience. Each project has a beginner, intermediate, and advanced level-this allows youth to build on their knowledge each year and continue to challenge their skills. There are more than 70 project areas in 4‑H.
New members and volunteers are always welcome.
During 4-H week the organization will celebrate its amazing members, tireless volunteers and dedicated professionals.
