Tickets for the “Toast of Dan Bortner” on sale at select locations

BEDFORD – Tickets for the Bedford Rotary Club “Toast to Dan Bortner” on February 26, 2022 have officially gone on sale at the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, Bedford City Hall, Travel One and Copy Trolley for $20.

The “toast” will take place at First Baptist Church located 1515 20th St with all proceeds raised during the event going towards the Bedford Rotary Scholarship fund.

Dan Bortner

Dan Bortner is a lifelong Hoosier who grew up in Bedford. He graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School in 1983. Following high school, he attended Indiana University where he graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Affairs from the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

Dan became the Director of Indiana’s State Parks in 2005, where he oversaw the operation of 32 State Park properties. He served 3 Governors in that capacity – Governor Mitch Daniels, Governor Mike Pence, and Governor Eric Holcomb.

In 2020, he became the 23rd Director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources when he was appointed to that position by Governor Eric Holcomb. In addition to this Cabinet Level Position, he also serves as the State’s Historic Preservation Officer and is a member of the Board of the Indiana State Museum, The White River Development Commission, the Indiana Native American Indian Affairs Commission, the Indiana Natural Resources Commission, and
the Environmental Rules Board.

He is active in the local community as well, serving as the President of the Green Hill Cemetery Association and an At-Large Member of the Bedford City Council.
