BEDFORD – Firefighters battled a house fire in the 200 block of Trinton Circle in Vinegar Hill Addition Thursday night.
The fire was reported at 11:40 p.m. Firefighters from Shawswick and Marion Township VFD responded to find the home engulfed in flames.
Shawswick VFD responded with nine firefighters and three engines and Marion VFD with five firefighters and two engines.
The home was being rented and is owned by Tony and Sharon Barrett. The renter was not home when the fire started.
“The renter said she had left and gone to town leaving her television and fan on in a bedroom and that is where the fire started,” said Fire Chief Bob Brown. “But the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.”
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and had it out within 45 minutes.
IU Health Lifeline ambulance also responded to the scene.
