BEDFORD – Two women were arrested Tuesday after Bedford Police officers were called to Total Tan on M Street after a report of an unresponsive woman in one of the tanning rooms.
Before police arrived, the staff called police again and reported there was another woman in the parking lot acting strange and she appeared to be under the influence.
When police arrived they made contact with 28-year-old Kelsey Bryson, of Orleans in the parking lot looking under the hood of a vehicle.
Another officer went inside. The staff reported another woman was still unresponsive in one of the tanning beds.
Officers then banged on the door to get the female to respond. They then announced they were going to enter the room.
When they entered they found the woman unresponsive in the tanning bed.
Officers then used a sternum rub on 30-year-old Ashley Bryson, of Oolitic, and she responded.
Police say Ashley Bryson had slurred speech and poor manual dexterity. She continued to lay in the tanning bed after officers asked her to get up and put her clothes on.
After getting dressed, she was escorted out of the business.
Kelsey Bryson told police there was a marijuiana blunt in the center console of the vehicle.
Canine Maximus alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle police found a hand rolled marijuana cigarette and an unmarked pill bottle containing 48 Xanax pills and 15 Xanax pills that had been broken in half.
Both women were arrested.
Kelsey told police she smoked weed and took one Xanax bar today because of her anxiety.
Ashley told police the Xanax were not hers.
Both women were arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.
Ashley Bryson was also charged with public intoxication.
