BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped his vehicle after witnessing the vehicle cross the centerline.
The officer stopped 30-year-old John Dotts at the intersection of Judah Logan and Donica Church roads.
Dotts had a female passenger in the vehicle.
Dotts told the officer he was just not paying attention and was on his way home.
Dotts then told the officer he did have a pocket knife on him and refused to allow the officer to search his vehicle. A police canine was called to the scene and alerted on the driver side door to possible drugs.
Dotts was detained. During a pat down, the deputy found a glass smoking device containing meth in Dott’s sock.
Dotts was arrested on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and was issued a citation for driving left of center. His passenger was released.
