BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a Bedford Police officer stopped the vehicle she was a passenger in for an unintelligible paper license plate.
The male driver stopped at 12th and O streets. His frontseat passenger was 23-year-old Angela Jewell and two other backseat passengers.
The driver told police he had a BB gun on the floorboard near the center console. The officer secured the BB gun. The officer then asked the driver for consent to search the vehicle. The driver and Jewell both denied the officer’s request.
Bedford Police canine Maximus alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle. During the search, officers found a glass smoking pipe containing crystal meth. Jewell then told police she had more meth inside of her bra and didn’t want to get a second charge for trafficking.
At the police station a female dispatcher found a baggie of crystal meth, a folded paper with THC wax and a glass vial containing a burnt crystal substance.
In a black metal lock box in the vehicle police found a digital scale, glass smoking device with crystal meth residue, a magnifying glass with meth residue. a baggie containing meth and a baggie containing marijuana and several used syringes.
The driver and other passengers were released from the scene. Jewell was arrested on charges of possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a syringe.
