Lawrence County Commissioners Approve Repairs On Armstrong Station Road Bridge

(SPRINGVILLE) – David Holmes requested $28,000 for repairs on the Armstrong Station Road bridge this morning during the Lawrence County Commissioners meeting.

The commissioners approved the request not to exceed $28,000 to get the bridge opened back up.

A replacement plan of the bridge have not been finalized at this time. CLR has been approved to do the repairs.

There is no word on how long it will take and the road will be open.

The bridge was closed on September 1, 2020, after bridge inspectors found severe deterioration on the Fayetteville side to the steel underneath the 92-foot bridge. The bridge is a historical truss bridge.

“This is a historical bridge which means any major work or replacement has to be approved by the State Historical Association,” David Holmes Lawrence County Highway Superintendent said.
