Congressman Jim Banks Attends Historic Abraham Accords Signing

(WASHINGTON) – Rep. Jim Banks (IN-03) attended the Abraham Accords signing today at the White House where representatives of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed peace deals with the nation of Israel. President Trump brokered the historic diplomatic breakthroughs, which are significant steps normalizing relations between Israel and two of its Arab neighbors.

“Saying ‘Peace in the Middle East’ used to be a phrase that meant ‘never going to happen.’ Now, ‘Peace in the Middle East’ is President Trump’s foreign policy legacy,” said Rep. Jim Banks. “I was humbled to be witness to this historic event today at the White House.”

Congressman Banks previously backed the Trump administration’s bold decision to move the U.S. embassy to Israel to Jerusalem. Moving the embassy to Israel’s capital was an action previous U.S. presidents had promised to perform once elected, but it took President Trump in office to actually do it.
