(MEDORA) – The 11th Annual HOPE Medora Goes Pink event that is held on the second Saturday of October of each year has been canceled.
The event, founded in 2010, brings the community together and raises money to help those afflicted with cancer and is held as a tribute to 75-year old Helen Sipes who died from breast cancer.
More than $147,700 has been distributed by the organization since its inception.
Funds raised throughout the year are distributed in the form of $100 money orders, or $50 Jay-C Food Store and $50 Circle K gift cards to those with cancer. Funds are delivered personally whenever possible while others are mailed in a pink envelope with a pink love letter.
The event was canceled because of COVID-19 concerns which have infected over 417 Jackson County residents.
However, you can still donate to the organization by mailing donations to HOPE, P.O. Box 125, Medora, IN, 474260.
The event has been rescheduled to take place next on October 9, 2021.
