Orleans 2020 Summer Concert In The Park Series Canceled

(ORLEANS) – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 Orleans Summer Concert in the Park series has been canceled.

The music series has been a favorite summertime tradition in historic Congress Square for nearly two decades.

Orleans Chamber Executive Director Robert Henderson

“Having closely monitored the developments surrounding COVID-19, and with an abundance of caution, Orleans Chamber officials have made the difficult decision not to produce its popular summer concert series this year,” said Chamber Executive Director Robert Henderson.

“As a longtime community and business supporter where overall public health and safety are major priorities, we know it would just not be responsible for the local Chamber to put on these type events during this time.  This has been another very difficult decision for our organization, but we believe it is the best one based on these unprecedented circumstances.”

Earlier this spring COVID-19 resulted in the Chamber canceling the community’s trademarked Dogwood Festival.

Henderson said the Chamber is still hopeful of being able to host the annual Orleans Fall Festival in October. He says they may even expand on it.

“We look forward to the time when it’s safe for everyone to come together to celebrate all of our favorite hometown traditions,” Henderson said in the release. “We’re going to get through this together.”
