(BEDFORD) – Bruce Andis has been appointed lead Lawrence County Public Defender.
He will replace David Shircliff after the Public Defender Board consisting of Brent Steele, Gene McCracken, and Bill Spreen voted to not renew his contract.
Shircliff has served in the position for the last four years. His last day will be December 31, 2019.
Andis, who has been an attorney for 28 years, joined the Lawrence County Public Defenders Agency in September 2012. His cases have included adult and juvenile criminal matters, as well as Children In Need of Services (CHINS) matters.
Before moving to southern Indiana, Andis worked for several years as a public defender in Boone County and in civil law practice.
