As of this morning, Compton has raised $7,000, but he needs the public’s help. Today he and his beloved pets are outside of WalMart. Drop by and make a donation. Help him reach his goal so he can come out of the cold. Tonight temperatures will drop to the low 20s.

“The community has been kind, great and generous,” Compton said. The first year they thought I was nuts. But we raised $1,000 and thought we were on to something.”

Five Years ago Robin Compton created Rescue Robin – each year Compton spent a weekend inside a kennel outside of Tractor Supply with his two dogs Mischka and Rexie to raise money for the White River Humane Society.

Last year he raised more than $5,000 in less than 17 hours to help the homeless animals of Lawrence County.

Compton and his dogs stayed in a kennel provided by Tractor Supply in their parking lot.

This year Compton’s goal is to raise $10,000 or spend 10 days living outside in Indiana’s unpredictable weather with his two dogs.

This year Compton and his canine companions began their adventure in a trailer provided by Roots RV Sales. That way he can move from location to location. He kicked off the event by being in the Bedford Christmas Parade Saturday.
