Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana Hosts December Events Focused on Family Fun

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) is hosting multiple media-friendly holiday celebrations throughout the first weeks of December, beginning Wednesday, Dec. 4th with Deck the House and continuing through Christmas.

Deck the House is an annual Christmas tree decorating contest featuring House partners. The event will be from 10 a.m. until 3 pm. at the Ronald McDonald House at 435 Limestone Street.

Hosted by presenting sponsor Indiana Members Credit Union, the contest includes 15 trees sponsored and decorated by volunteers from area businesses that include Barnes & Thornburg, Sun King Brewing Company, NextGear, hot cocoa sponsored by DeBrand, and more. Voting takes place in conjunction with the annual Home for the Holidays Open House.

 Home for the Holidays is Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana’s annual holiday open house on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. for community partners, families, and friends of the House. Presented by CFH Enterprises, guests will enjoy a variety of food and beverage stations, live music, a visit from Santa as well Mac, the House chief cheer officer. 

The evening culminates at 5:30 p.m. with the announcement of the Deck the House tree decorating contest champion and the ceremonial lighting House’s lobby Christmas tree by one of the families in residence.

Santa’s Workshop returns on Monday, Dec. 16 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. to visit with families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Families and their children have an opportunity to “shop” and select gifts from an enormous array of donated toys and gifts at Santa’s Workshop. There will be a variety of family-friendly activities, including face painting, games and crafts, and a special visit from Santa.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana provides a supportive “home-away-from-home” for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health and other area hospitals and champions programs that improve the health, education, and well-being of children through community grants and scholarships.

Each night, as many as 58 families call the House “home.” Thanks to community, corporate and individual support, the house is open 365 days a year keeping families together when it counts the most.
