Man Arrested After Punching Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy

(BLOOMINGTON) – A Bridgewater, New Jersey man was arrested early Friday morning at Kilroy’s bar in Bloomington.

According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults two Lawrence County Police officers were working off-duty security at the bar when the manager asked an intoxicated male to leave the bar at 12:55 a.m.

“At one point the suspect chest bumped the manager and the officers intervened and escorted the suspect outside where he became verbally abusive and tried to punch an officer,” says Chief Deputy Shoults. “At that time he was placed under arrest and had to be physically subdued. During this time one officer was punched on the face. No serious injuries were reported to the officer, minor bleeding.”

The suspect, 21-year-old Zachary Heishman, was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and was medically cleared then transported by Bloomington Police to the Monroe County Jail on charges of battery and battery by bodily waste.
