La-Or-Ma Shrine Club Hosting Free Pediatric Screening Clinic Nov. 23

(MITCHELL) – The La-Or-Ma Shrine Club is hosting a Pediatric Screening Clinic at The Solutions Center at 1490 West Main Street, in Mitchell, on Saturday, November 23 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A physician will be on-site doing the exams and making referrals to one of 22 Shriners Hospitals.

The Clinic is FREE to attend and no appointment is necessary.

Shriners Hospitals for Children pride themselves on helping all children, regardless of their ability to pay. Shriners also provides transportation and lunch for patients and their parents to and from appointments. The Shriner van is stationed locally in Bedford.

Here are some of the most common craniofacial conditions treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children: Cleft lip, Cleft palate, Craniosynostosis, Facial trauma/fractures, Craniofacial microsomia, which may present as: Hemifacial macrosomia Goldenhar syndrome (Oculo-auricula-vertebral spectrum), Lateral facial dysplasia First and second bronchial arch syndrome, Oculo-auricula-vertebral sequence Isolated microtia.

Here are some common surgical interventions for burn patients: Reconstructive surgery, Skin grafting, Tissue expanders, Tissue transfers or flaps, Laser treatments, Custom garment applications for compression therapy, occupational and physical therapy.

Orthopedic specialty: In-toeing, toe walking, flat feet, bowed legs or knocked knees, sore, painful or stiff joints, limb deficiency, limb length discrepancy, curved spine indicating scoliosis and club feet

Spinal cord issues: Traumatic SCI, incomplete spinal cord injuries, complete spinal cord injuries, congenital defects of the spine, sacral agenesis, spina bifida, tethered cord, guillian-barre’syndrome, transverse myelitis, acute flaccid myelitis, acute traumatic sci, congenital sci, ADEM (acute disseminating encephalomyelitis), spinal cord infarct,oncology/radiation necrosis sci.
