Sign Up Your Team of Youth Culinary Stars for the IndYouth Food Challenge

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Sign up your team of youth culinary stars for the IndYouth Food Challenge! Registration closes on October 7.

The second annual IndYouth Food Challenge will be held during the Indiana Latino Expo in the Elements Financial Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 12th.

Youth will be given mystery ingredients and asked to prepare a meal for judges in an effort to learn about food safety and preparation, showcase their teamwork skills, gain nutritional knowledge, practice public speaking skills, and more.

Every child should know how to safely prepare healthful and cost-effective meals, and we are hoping to provide the opportunity for youth to build those skills through the IndYouth Food Challenge.

Youth in 3rd through 12th grade are invited to participate in a team of three to five youth members and one adult mentor for the IndYouth Food Challenge. Team members do not have to be current 4-H members, and parents or new or existing 4-H volunteers are welcome to act as an adult mentor.

This event is well suited for youth new to the 4-H program, and can also be a fun event for youth participating in the 4-H Foods project.

Registration information, lesson plans for meetings leading up to the competition, and more are available at bit.ly/4hindyouthfood. Sign up is $30 per team through October 7.
