(UNDATED) – The U.S. Forest Service will host several free events in October. Visit the Historic Rickenbaugh House Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CDT to celebrate Halloween.
A short presentation inside the house on the hunting prowess of owls will be at 11 a.m. Afterwards visitors can dissect an owl pellet, tour the historic house, and enjoy free refreshments.
This is a free event but there is a $5 day-use fee to enter the Indian-Celina Recreation Area if you are not camping.
On Oct. 11, a free-guided hike will be offered at 10:30 am CDT at German Ridge Recreation Area. Participate in this free family-friendly event to hike and learn about nature and history along the trail.
Rain or shine those attending will trek along with trail mix and enjoy the colors of fall.
Meet at the German Ridge Recreation Area Day Use trailhead. This is a free event.

- October 19, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. CDT at Buzzard Roost Recreation Area in Perry County
- October 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. EDT at Hickory Ridge Lookout Tower, Tower Ridge Rd (off Ind. 446 south of Bloomington)
