Mitchell Fire And Police Departments Receive Grant

(MITCHELL) –  The Mitchell Police Department and Mitchell Fire Department both received grants from Hoosier Uplands on Friday afternoon at Mitchell City Hall.

David Miller from Hoosier Uplands was excited to present a check to the Mitchell Police Department in the amount of $6,117.00 for the purchase of stop-sticks and portable breathalyzers.

“We are happy to support our local law enforcement,” he added.

The Mitchell Fire Department was presented a check in the amount of $7,400. The Mitchell Fire Department recently took delivery of a 2004 E- ONE Pumper. The grant will help equip the truck with fire hoses, nozzles, and axes. The E-One Pumper has a 1,500 GPM pump, a 500-gallon tank, and a 50-gallon foam cell.

“We are hoping to have the engine placed in service within the next three weeks. We will also be putting a thermal imaging camera on the engine,” added Chief Duncan.
