(BEDFORD) – Prime scoring conditions produced quality numbers as Bedford North Lawrence posted a victory over Edgewood on a damp Monday afternoon at Otis Park.

With rain-softened greens, the Stars had three scores of 40 or better while firing a team total of 172 (compared the Edgewood’s 223). Addyson Bailey led the way with a 4-over 39, while Olivia Sanders and Ashley Chase carded 40s on the back nine.

Sacrificing added roll for control, Bailey and Sanders posted clean scorecards (no 6s) and nothing bigger than a rare bogey.

“It was definitely hard,” Bailey said. “The greens were sticking but the ball wasn’t going as far. It was rough, but it was a good adjustment. We all pulled through it.”

Bailey had four bogeys, Sanders had 4 pars, and Chase had trouble with the 13th (double bogey), but they were consistent while avoiding any huge missteps.

“I had a little trouble with my drives, but my putting was definitely a lot better than it has been,” Bailey said.

“The conditions weren’t that tough,” BNL coach Aaron Sanders said. “For most golfers, that’s prime scoring conditions., It was soft and you could hit it right at the flag.

“Those are pretty solid scores. We just have to eliminate the big miss that’s costing us two or three shots. But we are continuing to go in the right direction.”

Nora Howat completed the BNL scoring with 53. Kailee Covey paced the Mustangs with 42.

BNL will visit Martinsville on Thursday.
