Mitchell Celebrates Independence Day With Fireworks

(MITCHELL) – After the weather delayed the fireworks display on Wednesday, hundreds turned out Thursday evening in Mitchell.

Prior to the fireworks, many took advantage celebrating the day in different ways.Celebrations included softball games, corn hole, barbecuing and setting off their own fireworks and many enjoyed the day with family and friends.

The grand fireworks display lasted about thirty minutes, set off from the Lehigh Field with all aerial displays.

There are still more fireworks displays if you missed them. Saturday, July 6 is “Thunder Over Patoka” where the parking area will be open around 7 p.m. and the fireworks will begin around 10 p.m. on Patoka Lake.

And mark your calendars for September 1, where the fireworks at Fourwinds Lakeside Inn and Marina will be on display. The Department of Natural Resources asked them to postpone their event because of high water levels on Lake Monroe.
