Walter W. “Coonie” McCune – Mitchell
Walter W. “Coonie” McCune, 98, formerly of Huron, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born November 29, 1914, in Cuzco, he was the son of Isaac and Ida Luella (Parsons) McCune. He married Bonnie Burton October 27, 1937, and she preceded him in death November 4, 1994. He retired from Naval Weapons Support Center–Crane, was a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ, and a graduate of Cuzco High School.
Survivors include sons, Lanny McCune and wife Minnie, of Seymour, Charles McCune and wife Kathryn, of Huntingburg; granddaughter, Carrie McCune, of Dillsboro; brothers, Howard McCune, of French Lick
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Marty McCune; and siblings, Elwood McCune, Peck McCune, Irene Lewis, Theo Deal, Harold McCune, and Wayne McCune.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bro. Don White officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
