John R. Fitzgerald of Bedford passed away Tuesday morning, April 27th at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 68. Born in 1942 in Lawrence County to John Fitzgerald and Gilberta Lutz, he had been married to Patty Dougherty since 1996, was a mechanic for Cotton’s Auto Service and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; three sons, James Fitzgerald and his wife Judy, Christopher Fitzgerald and Warren Fitzgerald and his wife Misti; two step-daughters, Jamie Smith and Jackie Lipscomb and her husband Rob; as well as several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Sarah; two sisters, Marsha Lutz and Connie Asher. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 30th at 11:00AM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, April 29th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Dempsey Ford of Springville passed away Wednesday morning, April 28th at Bedford Regional Medical Center at the age of 72. Born in 1938 in Oregon to Coy and Olive Ford, he had been married to Jacqueline Miller since 1959 and was a mechanic. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Stephan and Randy, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brothers, Gary, Larry and Billy, and sisters Barbara, Ellen and Betty. He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, two brothers and sons Dewayne and Danny. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00PM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day and Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Springville West Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday and from noon until time of the service on Friday at Day and Carter Mortuary.
Rachel Hudson of Bedford passed away Wednesday morning, April 28th at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Arrangements are pending at Ferguson Lee Funeral Home.
