Susan Irene May – Bedford
Susan Irene May, 65, of Bedford, died at 7:35 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born October 15, 1948 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of John and Hazel Ruth Smithers. She married Roger L. May, Sr. on January 28, 1967 and he survives. She retired as an assembly line worker at RCA and was formerly secretary for Crossroads Community Church. She was a member of the Bunco Club and of the Christian faith.
Survivors include her husband, Roger, of Bedford; a daughter, Chrissy Jones and husband, Eric of Mitchell; a son, Roger L. “Bud” May, Jr. of Springville; four grandchildren, Adara Edwards and husband, Jake of Hawaii, Kayla Burgi and husband, A.J. of North Carolina, Alisha Jones of Mitchell, Haley May of Springville; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ruth Loving of Florida; one brother, John Smithers of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Smithers and a daughter, Hazel Ruth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Thursday, January 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Harold Beaver, 78, of Bedford, died at 4:36 am on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Stonebridge Health Campus.

John J. Banks – Anderson
John J. Banks, 89, a former Mitchell resident from 1994-2009, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Countryside Manor following a brief illness.
Born August 1, 1924, in Connersville, he was the son of John J. and Leila (Baker) Banks. He married Dorcas Marie Robbins August 10, 1971, and she preceded him in death March 8, 2009.
He was employed at Behrens Paint Spot for 20 years and also Anderson Automotive. John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Northern France, Ardennes, and the Rhineland. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
Survivors include daughter, Pamela Lee (Barry) Childers, Noblesville; stepdaughters, Deloris (Don) Haney, Mitchell, Patty (Larry) Hobbs, Williamsburg, Kentucky; 2 grandsons; 4 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Clarence Banks, Bernard E. Banks, Donald Banks, Beulah Marie Banks, and Beatrice Hobbs.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 30, at Cresthaven Mausoleum with Rev. Matt Moore officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Kenton L. Watson – Oolitic
Kenton L. Watson, 64, of Oolitic, passed away on Sunday January 26, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Lawrence County on January 23, 1950 to Louis and Patricia (Roberts) Watson. He was a graduate of Oolitic High School Class of 1968, he was an US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and he had worked at Stone Box Company in Columbus and US Gypsum Company in Shoals. He loved to play golf.
Survivors include his father; Louis Watson of Oolitic, one brother; Keith Watson of Indianapolis, special Aunt; Anna Grace Watson of Oolitic,; special friend Mae Myers, several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 30, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Friends may call on Wednesday January 29, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Military rites will be given by American Legion Gillen Post #33
