Bloomington Parks and Recreation to host Wild Tea Foraging event for women in November

BLOOMINGTON — Local outdoor enthusiasts will have the opportunity to learn the art of wild foraging this fall through the upcoming “Women in Nature Gaining Skills” (W.I.N.G.S.) program, hosted by the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation.

The hands-on event, titled “’Tis the Season to Stock Up on Tea!”, is scheduled for November 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST.

During the program, participants will enjoy a cup of wild-foraged tea while learning essential outdoor skills, including plant identification, proper harvest techniques, and which native plants yield the most flavorful brews. Following the discussion, attendees will embark on a 0.7-mile hike across a natural surface trail to observe and identify tea-producing plants in their natural habitat.

Empowering Women in the Outdoors

The W.I.N.G.S. initiative is designed to encourage and empower women by teaching the practical skills needed to participate in outdoor recreation activities throughout south-central Indiana. Every event in the series features woman-led, hands-on training aimed at building a strong community of women who share a passion for nature.

Events in the W.I.N.G.S. series are open to participants ages 16 and older.
