Red Cross urges immediate blood and platelet donations ahead of Holiday Season

INDIANA — The American Red Cross has issued an urgent call for blood and platelet donors of all types—particularly type O blood—to bolster the community blood supply before the busy holiday rush. To encourage participation, donors who give between October 19 and November 22, 2026, will receive up to $20 in gift cards: a $10 Amazon gift card emailed to donors and 500 bonus points redeemable for a $10 e-gift card through Blood Donor Rewards.

Additionally, in observance of National Diabetes Awareness Month, successful donations throughout November will feature free A1C testing to screen for prediabetes and diabetes.
